Beds by Design started in 2005 in Fargo, ND. However, many of the founders have years of experience in retail, manufacturing, and mattress design and production. The Sioux Falls, SD location opened in 2010.

What is Beds by Design’s Refund/Return policy?
Many mattress retailers promote trial periods, or 30-60-90 days money back guarantees. Investigate the stores policy. Many times we think one thing, but in reality they only exchange your mattress for something different, that is usually more expensive.

Many retailers will make it very difficult to get your money refunded. This is one of the most important services we offer our customers. We can honestly say your trial period never ends. The time you have your bed makes no difference, we will change or alter your bed whenever you need an adjustment.

We are able to change your bed into any other bed if the need arises. Air, foam, or coil foam combination. Beds by Design’s policy is to build a bed that best suits you, and we won’t stop until you are happy. Guaranteed!

Does Beds by Design deliver out of town?
Yes, we will deliver your bed wherever you need it to be delivered to. Transportation charges apply to some locations.

How does Beds by Design save me money?
The bedding industry has many independent manufacturing companies. We do not make our own steel, foam, or fabric. No bed manufacturer does. We all order our components from many of the same manufacturers. But because we custom build it for you, we are able to produce a much superior product for less money. Some of the ways we save you money is to eliminate the middleman. By eliminating over 19 different steps, we are able to invest in higher grade materials. Transportation costs to and from warehouse, production labor, commissions, and national advertising, just to name a few. By eliminating these major expenses we invest in much higher grade materials so you get the Cadillac or Mercedes, for a much better price. We buy direct from the foam companies, the steel companies, and so on. Beds by Design is also affiliated with over 100 other independent bed manufacturers. By doing so we are able to combine purchasing power and take advantage of special programs.

Is custom made more expensive?
In today’s day and age we are so accustomed to buying massed produced items. What’s right for my neighbor must be right for me. Years ago we use to receive one on one attention when making a serious investment on a product we use so much.

If you could buy all the components necessary direct from the manufacturers at a cost of what big brand name mattress builders pay and choose exactly what products would work best for you, and eliminate over 19 different steps in the process, would you? Beds by Design does this everyday, with the purchasing power of the big box stores, we use the absolute best materials available, not the cheapest components of the day. On average you will pay 40 to 50% less then a comparable set at a big box store.

Do I need a box spring?
Years ago, mattresses were very thin. Using springs underneath your mattress was beneficial, this added more comfort to the overall system. However, beds today are made very differently. The most important item is your mattress itself. The box spring or foundation as it is referred to today, needs to support mattress one hundred percent of the time. All your comfort comes from the mattress itself. So if you choose to purchase a mattress only, make sure whatever is supporting your mattress doesn’t give. No different than using a platform system or tempered steel will be your most consistent longest lasting, foundations. All wood foundations tend to warp, and make noise over time.

Why should I buy from Beds by Design versus a furniture store or factory?
We care about each and every customer, working very hard to fit every customer to the right sleep system, and if that sleep system doesn’t perform the way its needed, we will adjust the sleep system until it does. In addition to a guarantee of your comfort for the next twenty years, which means you cannot make a mistake buying a mattress from Beds by Design. We use only the highest quality of materials and explain the differences between the different components. Our goal is to increase your time and quality while in bed. We build every type of mattress available. Each system has its place, unless the store you shop carries all types and models can you truly believe an air bed is better then an all memory foam bed or vice versa. We know the products we sell, and we know the products everyone else sells, and we can explain to you the differences so you can make an informed decision.

Do I need to flip or rotate my new mattress?
There is no need to flip your new mattress. All Beds by Design mattresses are designed to have a sleep surface on one side, therefore only a 180 degree rotation is necessary two to three times per year.

How does Beds by Design compare to name brands?
The question should be reversed, how do name brand beds compare to our beds? They don’t. There is no category in any of our lines that a name brand even comes close. We take such pride in building mattresses that are far above the competition. If you invest a small amount of your time, and truly compare what you are purchasing, you will purchase from Beds by Design every time.

How do I know this will be right for me?
You don’t really. Buying a mattress can be very challenging. It ranks high in consumer dissatisfaction (30% of consumers are unsuccessful in their first serious attempt at making a mattress purchase and delay the buying decision for up to a year and 30% don’t like the one they finally do purchase). The problem is, because people only test a mattress briefly in the store, they don’t realize the mattress is poorly designed or made with poor quality materials. Beds by Design not only have superior components and design, but a huge advantage over other mattresses in that you can adjust and readjust them after you purchase.
